"In Season Flowers"

Something I often hear at my bridal consultations is can you use "in-season flowers". I am sure you have read it in bridal magazines and online; they suggest you to use in season” flowers to reduce your flower budget. The truth is that the flower market is so global today that the majority of flowers commonly used in wedding designs are available all year long. Also the wordin season” does not necessarily mean inexpensive, peonies for example are in season in the Northeast from May through early July however peonies in general are not an inexpensive flower whether they arein season”  locally or if we get them in from other parts of the globe during the winter months.

Also, since the flower market is so global most of our product comes from California, South America and Holland it is generally more cost effective to allocate from those sources. When we secure your bridal order we research the market to purchase your flowers at the best available price enabling us to provide you with beautiful flowers suitable to your budget.

When selecting your bridal bouquet and those of your bridesmaids think about not only the exact variety of flowers but the overall color theme, that way your florist can use their expertise in designing your flowers. For example, if you selected a “coffee break” rose for the bouquets and they were not available on the market the week of your wedding, a trusted florist would know that a “leonides” rose would be an appropriate substitution.

It’s always a good idea to trust your florist so that he or she can have some creative liberty in design in the event there is something on the market that will enhance your look & style.

So do not always think in season” when ordering your flowers, consider how trusted & knowledgeable your florist is to ensure beautiful flowers for your special day.

Bond Ballroom Wedding

Here are a few photos from a wedding that we recently designed at The Bond Ballroom. Stefanie & her mom Jeri were a pleasure to work with from our first consultation to the day of the wedding. Unfortunately, Stefanie's grandfather had passed away before the wedding and she requested that we wrap her bouquet with pieces of his favorite shirt and a locket with his picture, it was such a special touch. We often get requests to add some type of memento to add to the brides bouquet, we have used pieces of  mom's wedding dress, grandma's brooches and dad's cufflinks to name a few!
Thanks to Christy from Christy Murray Photography for capturing these beautiful photos.

The perfect alternative to real candles

We have a brand new line of candles that I just love & I'm sure that you will too, especially if your wedding is being held at a venue that does not allow real candles. These candles are different from the traditional LED ones, the flame looks so real that you have to touch them to see if they are real! I can't wait to use them at home in my windows during the Holiday Season!
At the present time we have ivory pillars in 5 & 7 inch and we will have votive candles sometime in January. They are available for rental as well as purchase.

Echeveria Bouquets

Echeverias are arguably the most attractive of all succulents, highly valued for their amazing colours and variation, with the stunning leaf colour of many varieties at its most brilliant in the cooler months. Native to the Americas, they are prized by collectors and gardeners alike. Their rosettes range in size from 2cm to 50cm in diameter. They generally flower in the warmer months with colours ranging from white to orange to pink to red.
We have been using echeverias in our bridal designs as they provide texture and a rich lush look.
They can be used as an accent flower or as the focus flower as you can see in the photos from a wedding we designed this past May for Katie & Dustin.

Thanks to Brian & Kate from Brian Ambrose Photography for capturing great photos of the bouquets.

Ali's Bat Mitzvah

This past weekend I was in Las Vegas for my niece Ali's Bat Mitzvah & Ali Mania....what an event!
I remember when she was born 13 years ago  I said "wow in 13 years we'll be having her Bat Mitzvah", boy did those years fly by as did the weekend festivities. From the ceremony at the synagogue, the "over the top" party at the Red Rock Resort to the Bowling Brunch the next day everything was beautiful and truthfully over the top!
It was great to see my family, who came from all over the country, however after being grounded in Vegas due to Storm Sandy, I am happy to finally be home safe & sound...we have power and did not lose any trees. My heart goes out to the victims of this destructive and devastating storm.

Wedding Consultations

2013 will soon be upon us & that means we will have wedding consultations almost every day of the week! It's important to be timely for your appointment as sometimes we schedule them back to back.If you do need to cancel or are running late please let us know. For your initial consultation it is a good measure to plan for about an hour. You can bring as many people as you like but it is best to limit it to 3 or 4, that way there are not too many opinions being offered! It's also helpful if you bring swatches, if you have them and an inspiration board that you may have. That will give us a good idea of the look  & feel that you are trying to accomplish. The atmosphere is casual & don't worry if you know a thing about flowers, thats where we come to your rescue!
After you have reserved your date with us, we will schedule another appointment to view sample arrangements. If you need to make minor changes to your order you can call, text or email, then closer to your wedding date we will schedule a final detail appointment to go over everything and at that time we do require payment. Happy Wedding Planning !!!
